Corey & Jessica

Corey Kershner

I was blessed to grow up in a Christian home to a family that served the Lord faithfully in the local church. I was blessed to grow up in church and I understood that I need to be saved during a Vacation Bible School in August 1993 and I baptized shortly after. Growing up in a church which faithfully supported missionaries, I grew up around missions and decided at a young age to support missions financially. It was during a youth camp meeting in July 2005 that I felt God’s call into full time ministry. The nature of the call into world missions was confirmed my freshman year of college during an impromptu visit to a Mission’s Conference at Baptist Temple at a college friends church. After graduation in May 2010, I began an internship at Sonshine Baptist Church in Port Charlotte, Florida where I served as the missions intern and pastoral associate.

My wife Jessica and I grew up in the same youth ministry at our home church and began dating in college. After her graduation, we were married in July 2011. During January 2013, we experience the needs and work in Taiwan first hand as we spent 2 weeks working alongside missionaries in Taiwan. After considerable prayer and counsel, we have felt the Lord’s call to reach hearts in Taiwan as we plant indigenous churches among its people.

I was very privileged to be able to grow up in a loving, Christian home. I was fortunate to hear the Gospel at a very young age, and when I was four I supposedly made a profession of faith. It was when I was 12 years old that I realized that I could not remember that day at all. So on August 22, 2001 I made sure of my salvation. I knew that was the most important decision I could make in my life and I wanted to be sure that I could remember that day. When I was 15 I felt the calling of God to the mission field at youth camp during a service when they played a missions video about Jim Eliot. I knew that was exactly what God wanted me to do in my life and I had a great peace that only He can give.

Just two months after graduating college I married my husband, Corey. We fulfilled our internship at Sonshine Baptist Church in Port Charlotte, Florida. In January 2013, we were able to take a survey trip to Taiwan. The Lord really burdened our hearts for the people there and really made it clear to us that Taiwan was where God wanted us as missionaries.
